Shoulder Injuries Interventions

Shoulder injuries can occur suddenly, such as from a fall, or gradually from everyday activities. When the shoulder is injured, its function is impaired, affecting the complex interaction of bones, muscles, ligaments, and other structures. Treatments for shoulder problems include physical therapy, medications, and surgery.

Arthroscopic Surgery

Shoulder arthroscopy is a minimally invasive surgery that utilizes a tiny camera, known as an arthroscope, to examine or repair the tissues within or around the shoulder joint. This procedure involves making a small incision in the skin through which the arthroscope is inserted, allowing the surgeon to view the inside of the joint on a screen. This technique can be used to address various shoulder problems, such as torn rotator cuffs, damaged cartilage, or bone spurs, with reduced recovery time and less postoperative pain compared to traditional open surgery.

Shoulder Replacement Surgery

Shoulder replacement surgery is an orthopedic procedure designed to alleviate joint pain and restore function. Like the knees, the shoulders are essential for a wide range of movements. This surgery may become necessary when arthritis or severe fractures cause significant pain and limit mobility. During the procedure, damaged parts of the shoulder are replaced with artificial components, helping to reduce pain and improve the shoulder’s range of motion. This can significantly enhance the quality of life for individuals suffering from chronic shoulder issues.
